Decoding MotoTRBO Capacity Plus with RAS - DSD+
Переглядів 4 тис.2 роки тому
Using DSD makes it incredibly easy to decode DMR, including those systems using MotoTRBO Restricted Access to System (RAS) The system recorded is a plant that is in a high noise environment, you can heard it mixing with the digital in the video. DSD can be found here, I strongly recommend using the FastLane program. www.dsdplus.com/

Where can I buy a deck, I have the remote control head. And what’s the name of it? Or is there a link you could share
Anyone run with a volunteer company that uses this pager? I am curious if a tone will trip the pager on 800mhz. We have both UHF & VHF and are looking to go all UHF now but don't know if this will work for us.
As far as I know they do
Been trying and trying get pager G5 to decode Harris and Tait systems, but it will not work, and I am not to fimilar what to change or anything.
can i ask you if i wanted to listen to these frequencies 152.6825c 152.7125c 161.875 162.000 and then my next site 152.8175c 161.800 would 2 dongles be enough. i'm thinking about getting a third one just don't know if i would need it. thanks
In theory yes, each dongle will handle about 2.4 MHz of bandwidth. So one will hear all the 152MHz traffic and one will hear all the 161/162 traffic.
I am having difficulties with setting up which tones go off for on-duty vs off-duty. Any chance you can help?
Where do you get the radio reference login?
You will need to go to radio reference and create an account, software downloads are only available for premium members.
Since you don't expand on this installation on a regular video, it would be nice if you list the actual components. 73
Aloha. Great instructive video and still relative a few years later with new AREDN & MikroTik updates. Had to install AREDN software on a LHG5 antenna, and it was helpful as well. After I used the theory you presented to figure it out. Could not find anyone who actually shows how to do it on a new dish. But some thinking and your video helped a lot.
Analog/P25/DMR ?
To much
How did you set this up
How was programming do I need to buy extra stuff
I have an sds100 the programing is easy and you need a mini usb to update the database just letting you know its completely free then just put your zip in the radio
I'll take it if you're selling it I live in Waukesha
Thanks but you kinda did that a bit fast for me to understand -- rookie here lol
Feel free to pause during the video
Is it possible to use 110 watts on p25 conventional ?
They do make a High power version for VHF, I have it in one of my vehicles. Usually there is not much need for 100 watts these days with most systems built for portable coverage.
Hello, can this scanner pick up a Motorola type ii system and list all the talkgroup ID’s, hexadecimals, and all the system information? I’m asking because a system I want to monitor in my local area does not show any talkgroup information on radio reference unfortunately. Is this possible to find it myself through this scanner?
Yes by using this scanner you will be able to find talkgroup info, I would also suggest using DSD+ or UnitTrunker depending on the type of system.
@@RadioGeek I’m trying to monitor an 800MHz analog trunking system, so there are cheaper ways to do that without paying $600 to buy this scanner?
@@RadioGeek I actually have a Uniden BCD436HP, is it possible to find trunking tgids and hexadecimal information that isn’t already on the database on my BCD436HP? Any help would be great.
@@RadioNoahW I don't have the 436 I have the 536 and you can setup a favorites list for the system you want to monitor and set it to Talkgroup Search instead of scan, you can also use trunking discovery mode to find the talkgroups.
I would check out RTLSDR with UnitTrunker 2, you can get up on the air for about $20
Nice video! I was able to get my PowerBeam M flashed using TFTPD64 as you kindly demonstrated in your video. 73 and happy New Year! (2024)
Can I do this on a Mac?
I am not a MAC guy, so I will preface this with I don't know. The instructions on the AREDN website are for Linux and Windows. There are a ton of people in the forums that are really helpful it might be worth asking. Here are the official updated instructions - docs.arednmesh.org/en/latest/arednGettingStarted/installing_firmware.html#mikrotik-first-install-process
Hello Friend! Is there anyway you can still do the video talking about the cross band repeater function of this radio? would love to see the different ways of using this function in video format! Cheers my friend Brad
Great video, thanks! I have hold enabled on my G4, but do not see an option for block. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! I'm running two and will add a few more. I'll need to add a pre amp though I think. How did you get the alias to work? Maybe just an area thing?
Very cool I have Vl

Ras active or not?
RAS is not active
Could this be done in a VHF/VHF/800/800 deck configuration? Is the repeater a standard function? Would I be able to repeat a firegrounds traffic onto a dispatch channel and so forth?
You can use any combination of bands even all of one band. Yes you could do that, however crossband repeat only works on conventional channels.
@@RadioGeek So I couldnt crossband repeat an 800mhz channel over to a VHF fireground channel?
@@masonpletz7033 You can if they are both conventional, but not trunking. You could pair it with the Pyramid VRS to do it with trunking.

Can normal internet users access services advertised via Aredn? Or are services limited to Aredn users? Do Aredn devices have outbound internet connections through somewhere in the network? What type of cybersecurity precautions should be implemented to prevent unauthorized use of services?
No normal internet users cannot access the network without advanced networking configuration. AREDN device can be allowed to the internet but that is not a requirement, the network can exist as a internal network only, with no WAN connections. The network can be as secure or as insecure as you make it.
Thank you. So I’ll treat it as an insecure internal network. Appreciate the response!
@@805drifter Unless you set up the network I won't be doing banking or other personal stuff on the network. If you set up your own you could change the SSIDs and SSH keys to keep unauthorized users off. It will never be a enterprise level secure network.
For a low low price of 10k dollars.
Not sure where you got your quote but mine with three decks with all the options was about 6k list without any discount.
Thanks for putting your time and effort into this! JW
Trx1 does it like they aint private
Worth it?
If you have P25 Simulcast systems in your area, yes. It is also preprogrammed with free updates.
I have added more than one site but from what I can tell it does not scan the sites. Appears to just fix on one site. Am I missing something. Example. One township has two site which I installed. I did not receive anything. I uninstalled one of them and would pick up all transmissions. I compaired reception against my sds200 to be sure. Your thoughts.
Does software work on a mac?
It is windows only
I absolutely love this feature on my VP6000, and just ordered a VM5000. Having it on a mobile will be even better!
it's telling me please select the profile to be edited first what am i missing
I really want to be able to sit down and be able to program my own pager, and make changes. I just dont understand it. When it says creat new zone and knob, what if i want it all on the same zone, but different knobs..and not make a new zone.
Once the new zone is created you can copy the knob function into a different zone by right clicking on it
After i hit program my computer says program successful but the radio says unprogrammed.Any help?
Im still confused…i just got a VHF/UHF G5, and had it programmed for me. I have P25 on knobs 1,2, 3, but all the rest are VHF and 4 iscans all the local VFDs, then the rest are each VFD individually. Id like to delete knob 3 that has a P25 Fire dept i dont want anymore, and put a local Sheriff’s dept thats still not digital, but dont know how.
Can you please do a new programming video, showing the latest PPS Version, and how to program for beginners. They come out with new stuff, and dont even explain how to use it..
How can you program below 450? I want to program 445MHz TX and 450MHz RX. Thanks!
The programming software should just allow you to plug it in. The only problem is depending on what it was programmed before you might have to turn the front end for better RX.
Great test. Can you do a test on a repeater in digits mode a few miles down the road? I like to see in-building coverage with a repeater across town. Also, can you do a simplex test again in digital mode?
can you monitor (RX only) repeaters with RAS?
As long as there is something being transmitted over the air and you are on that frequency yes. If it has any type of encryption no.
Would really like to program tone 3, can you provide numerical set up?
I've been going crazy trying to get this to work. Is this method still viable with current hardware? The hAP ac lite doesn't seem to perform a PXE boot. Also, Tiny PXE is blocked by many AV softwares now due to embedded trojans. You'll want to use an alternative PXE/BOOTP server.
Many firewalls block tinyPXE ports, it is not a trojan. This is still the process for current Mikrotik devices.
@@RadioGeek I tested it with as many AV brands as I have available. All of them detected Trojans. Upload to VirusTotal and 10 of their engines detect Trojans as well. This is code analysis. It's not blocking ports because it isn't even running yet. Many browsers also block it's download pages for the same reason.
Thanks so much! This was very helpful!
Looks good mate 👌
Basically a "build your own system" system!
Icon had a Radio like this in the 90s,
Yeah, IC-900A. Had up to 6 modules (10 m, 6m, 2 m, 70 cm, 220 and 1200 MHz) and the head was connected to the deck stack via a single fiber optic cable.
Great video, thanks! I flashed my hAP ac and it works great! I'm about to flash a Mikrotik LHG and I'm wondering if I can use my hAP ac as the dumb switch? Thanks again!
Your HAP will always work as a router, if you only need the dumb switch to trick PXEserv, just turn on the node and plug it into the computer long enough to open PXEserv and then power off the switch. PXEServ will see the network port up long enough to save the settings.
what camera do you use? looking for some to add to our AREDN network... what do you recommend?
All our fixed cameras are AMCREST, the PTZ Cameras are Sunbas.
